Dollar Tree Tuesday- Kid Edition

I thought I would revive my Dollar Tree Tuesday.  Although it's been a while I still LOVE the dollar store.  It's one of THE only stores that the kids don't complain about going too.  Probably because they usually get something, not always but more times than not.

I got no complaints from Taylor this morning when I told her I needed to go there.  I had a little project in mind that I knew would come to life with a little trip to Dollar Tree.  Unfortunately I was wrong and struck out on a major component, so that will have to wait.  I did, however find a few other must haves.

A few of my purchases were repeats, but definitely repeats worth mentioning.

My purchase:
Lala Loopsy coloring book
Two packages of snag free rubber bands for the girls (500 in each)
Bath Coloring Crayons
Scratch and sniff stickers
Two packages of school worksheets.

The coloring books at Dollar Tree are great.  Taylor really loves Lala Loopsy right now, so she was so excited when she saw the coloring book.  The rubber bands...seriously CANNOT beat 1000 for $2.00.  I do both of the girls' hair everyday and probably use 10-12.  They are the best...I just cut them out when it's time to shower, no pulling out hair and no whining!!  Both of these are repeats, but worth mentioning if you don't know about them.

Today I also found a couple new things.

The girls take a bath together almost everyday, so when I saw these bath crayons I had to have them.  I have bought the crayola version and they were a huge hit.  I hope these work as well because these were much cheaper.

Scratch and sniff stickers...did you have those as a kid?  I remember I did and I loved them.  Taylor loves stickers these days as well, so I told her she could pick out a package.  I hope they are as good as the ones I remember!!

And last but not least...two packages of school worksheets.  I want to make sure that the kids have lots to practice with at home and these seemed perfect.  38 different pages in each!!  I am pretty sure the kids won't be over the moon for these, but I AM!!

Dollar Tree Tuesday...On FRIDAY!!

In case you are wondering...

My love for the dollar store is as strong as ever.  I will be the first to admit though, you have to be careful in getting caught up in the "Everything is ONLY a dollar" idea.  It sounds great, but with some items it isn't as good of a deal as you might think.

Today's trip though...full of good little finds.  Currently in our house Thomas and Taylor fight about EVERYTHING!!!  Yesterday's fight of the day...Getting into the car...Thomas got in first and Taylor flipped out!!  Seriously?!?  I am positive I am being repaid for all the fights my sister and I had as kids!

I digress...

I needed kids' flossers and saw two little bottles of mouthwash...one for a girl and one for a boy!!  Score!!!  I have just eliminated a fight that we have EVERY morning over who gets to use the mouthwash first!!

As you know we are having a garage sale and I am super picky about the presentation of the kids clothes I sell.  Ziploc bags (or the knock off brand) are a small investment to help bring in good money by showing and keeping an outfit together.  I would normally say that these ARE NOT a good deal at the dollar store (less bags in the same size box), but I don't need that many so it was OK.

I have been wanting a roll of brown wrapping paper and the dollar store is perfect for this.  You get quite a bit on the roll and it is way cheaper than Staples.  I use it for projects for the kids and to mail a package I did not want to put in an actual box.

I picked up erasers for Thomas' class (at his teachers request)...6 for $1.00...SCORE!  And a tablet for Taylor to practice her handwriting.  The preschool uses this paper and she insists on using it at home.  Again...SCORE...school supplies are really only a good deal before school starts...then they go back to regular price and stay that way until the next year.

And last but not least  I picked up two packages of 10ct valentines for Thomas!!  I am all for the kids handing out Valentines, but really do not want to throw a bunch of money at what will undoubtedly be in the trash by end of day!  He was happy as a pig in...well you know!!  Kids don't need the most expensive, over the top stuff...as long as they get to write the names themselves...THEY ARE HAPPY!!

And there you have it!!  My dollar store trip!!

Dollar Tree Tuesday...

Although it has been a while since my last "Dollar Tree Tuesday" installment it does not mean that I have lost my love of the store. It just means I have been lazy about posting about it.

Today however, is a different Tuesday and I am not lazy!!

Photobucket

Todays trip was for all things birthday!!

I do not always find exactly what I am in need of at the dollar store, but I always check there first.

Today was no exception. I needed pink table decor, but did not find what I needed. BUMMER!! I did find a few other things I needed and of course a few things made it into my cart that were not on the list, but couldn't resist.

I always get my gift bags from the dollar store, but you can sometimes find cute wrapping paper too. I found three rolls that were bright and perfect Taylor's presents.

I picked up tissue paper for both wrapping and to make some tissue paper poms. I found two super cute pink buckets for the tablescape at her party, pink crate paper, kids' hair rubber bands, and string for my balloons.

Another good day at the dollar store!!

Dollar Tree Tuesday!!

Just so we are clear...I did actually shop on Tuesday, but it was late. Posting had to wait til the morning.

Anyhoo...

I almost thought I was going to walk out with nothing last night.

BUT...

Nope!! My bag only had 6 items in it last night, but it was one of my most exciting finds.

Check out these knee high socks I found. I have the perfect outfit for them!!

I kid...I kid

My mom turns these super cute adult socks into leg warmers for my Taylor to wear to dance class. It might just be time to buy a new outfit for dance to go with these.

I picked up this package of combs to take to my moms house. 12 combs for $1...seriously? These are the only thing I can use on Taylor's hair. And rather than packing them to my moms I figured I would just pick up a pack to keep there. 12 different combs all different sizes...Love it!!

And last but not least I picked up a couple kids bowls. The kids like having their own place settings and it is time to toss out the stuff we have had for a while.

I am telling you people...if you have dollar stores near you and don't go...YOU ARE NUTS!!

Dollar Tree Tuesday!!

It's been a while, but have no fear....

I am back with another Dollar Tree Tuesday!!

Although the heatwave they have been talking about on the news for the last week or two has not included good ol' AZ...we are still topping temps of 110.

In this house if we are not swimming at Nana and Papa's...

We are hanging out at home to stay cool.

I told the kids this morning if they were good we would take a trip to the Dollar store!!

As luck would have it...

THEY HAVE BEEN GOOD ALL DAY!!

Which brings me to my purchases....

I let the kids pick three new coloring books each!! Coloring books are always in abundance at the Dollar Tree and if you do some digging you can find all kinds of good ones.

Thomas' school supply list called for 2 bottles of hand sanitizer and 2 boxes of tissue. Tissue isn't that much more expensive in the normal grocery store, but why make an extra trip. Hand sanitizer on the other hand is a great deal. The bottles I picked up are pretty good size.

I needed some new bath sponges, so I picked up 2.

One of my Dollar Tree staples are the packages of latex gloves for that fun job of picking up doggy poop!!

And last but not least....

A new Hulk toothbrush for Thomas!! Normally I get a 2-pack of toothbrushes which is an even better deal, but Hulk one was pretty cool.

Thanks a lot BLOGGER!!!

Dollar Tree Tuesday had to be delayed two days this week due to BLOGGER, but I decided that I would go ahead and post anyway...

I mean my loyal lurkers readers may want to see what I picked up this week.

The weeks trip was for ME and me only. I picked up some household items that I would buy only at the Dollar Tree.

Yes...I am aware that there is a machine known as "Coinstar" AND yes I am aware that this machine counts your money for you....BUT I do not want to give up any of my the kids' money. So, every six months or so I sit down...find something on the DVR that I need to catch up on...AND roll coin.

$1.00 and I get 36 coin wrappers and I don't have to give up 8.9% of the money.

Tom reminded me the other day that we were in need of a good scrub brush...so I can now check that off the list.

I have showed both of these items before, but they deserve a second shout out...FLOSSERS and LATEX GLOVES. The flossers are probably my number one best find at the Dollar Tree and if you ask my hubby I cannot live without them.

Manila envelopes, a plastic basket and a 2pk of white drawer trays finished off my list.

I have a few organizing projects that need to be done this week...

So I will most likely be back to my favorite store.

Dollar Tree Tuesday....Teacher Appreciation Version!!!

So if you have kids in school you should know that this week is teacher appreciation week!!

I like any excuse that directs me to the Dollar Tree and this was a great one.

The Dollar Tree has a good school supply section, so I decided to put together a little basket for our favorite pre-school teacher. Hopefully she isn't reading this, hehe!!

I have a few other little surprises for the basket, but these are the "store" bought items.

1. Two books of stickers
2. Two packages of super cute pencils
3. Hand sanitizer...which is essential with all those little ones
4. Flash cards for both 123's and ABC's....I guess this is more for her kids next year, but I couldn't resist.

I got the basket and the shreds at Dollar Tree also...All for a little under $10.

Dollar Tree Tuesday

Of course I never need an excuse to visit the Dollar Tree, but today I needed to get more stuff for Taylor's birthday party.

Like every birthday in our house we have a theme...

Candy...lots and lots of candy. Taylor's Sweet Shoppe to be exact.

Without giving all my secrets away (big birthday post after the party) I thought I would share some of what I picked up.

Since it is a candy theme I need LOTS of candy. Bright colored, yummy candy.

I saw these Marshmallow twists and thought they were so cute. And in my house marshmallows are a huge hit.

I picked up three boxes of dots for the bright colors, but they happen to be one of my favorites too.

I had already bought a few boxes of Mike and Ike's but needed one more box to fill the container I have for them.

The bubbles were not on the list, but I told Taylor if she was good she could pick something out. She picked the princess bubbles and was nice enough to pick the Mickey Mouse one for her brother. Some "toys" from the Dollar Tree are worth just what I pay for them and that is OK, but sometimes things turn out to be good finds. The bubbles were pretty cool and the kids loved them.

Unfortunately they were out of the color of plates and tablecloth I needed, so I have to make another trip to the store closest to my house later tonight.

But for $8 today I made the kids happy and finished the candy section of our candy party!!

Dollar Tree Tuesday...

I have been busy with some of my great finds at the Dollar Tree, but you will have to hop over to my crafty blog to see what I turned this stuff into.

Dollar Tree Tuesday...IS BACK!!

Of course there really does not have to be a specific reason for me to take a trip to the Dollar Tree...

But today I did have something in mind. I was on the hunt for a friend in need of Star Wars stuff. Unfortunately I struck out...on the Star Wars stuff that is.

Like all trips to the Dollar Tree I walked away with some goodies and thought I would share.

Each of the kids got something today, unlike most trips...hehe...yea right.

Thomas picked out a coloring book after much deliberation and asking me five hundred times what I thought he should get. Taylor picked a microphone (not pictured because I couldn't pry it out of her hands).

And mommy got two rolls of grosgrain ribbon, some decorative rocks and a package of wooden cutouts for crafting!

The ribbon is one of THE BEST deals I have found at Dollar Tree, 5 yards for $1. 5 yards of ribbon will make quite a few hair bows, which is just what we need around here.

I needed some decorative rocks for a vase I have and one can never have too many crafting items.

I know I have said it a 100 times, but if you do not shop at the Dollar store and could...well you should!!!

$$$ Tree Tuesday

It's been a few weeks since I last reported on my finds from the $$$ Tree, so I thought I would make a stop today and see what I absolutely could not live without.

If I have not said it before, I am totally addicted to the dollar store. Besides loving that there is always something there that I need (OK NEED is probably not quite true, but lets not tell my hubby) there are things that just make me laugh. Some of which ended up being gifts for father's day....yes the kids shopped at the dollar store for Father's Day. I actually give credit to my hubby because Mother's Day gifts were from the dollar store and I thought it was such a good idea I copied him.

Anyway...

For today's finds...

Some Tupperware containers. Of course I use these lots in my house for leftovers and such, but I picked these particular ones up today for hubby to use in his lunch. He is trying to be better about taking his lunch, however every time I send him with my Tupperware...

I never see it again.

A 3pk of hard plastic dipping sauce dishes. Frankly I just thought these would be a good addition to my kitchen. You just never know when you will need a little dipping sauce dish. ;)

Floss picks...because if I do not have these in the house I am not very happy. PERIOD!! I have actually started throwing a few in my purse.

Now, I will admit that it is rare for me to hit the dollar store without buying something for the kids...

But sometimes it isn't always toys people. I thought these little sponges were SOOO cute and they absolutely loved them. They each picked one out and of course have been bugging to take a bath since we got home...at noon1!

And because they are at the age where they want to draw and write on absolutely everything, I picked up two scribble pads. One for each of them.

So there you have it

Another addition of

$$$ Tree Tuesday!!

$$$ Tree Tuesday (on Wednesday again)

This week I actually did hit the $$Tree on Tuesday, but since I had more pressing things to tell you... IE: swimming lesson updates. I saved the post for today.

The kids each got one thing this week...

Taylor picked out the ABC's book...

OK fine...I totally pointed her in this direction, but to be fair, she is really into singing her ABC's.

So...a book to help her start identifying the letters is good for her.

Thomas picked out, what else

A puzzle!!

He is really into Toy Story these days though, so it really didn't surprise me when I saw this. I will say though...

Please check out how many pieces this puzzle has.

He has put it together by himself twice.

I cannot tell you how much my little Thomas needs to learn patience. He takes after my hubby in that department and puzzles are a great exercise in patience.

The rest of the cart was for mommy.

I usually bake my banana bread in foil pans, but I picked up two of these for my future banana bread baking.

Now everyone knows my obsession with ribbon, but I must admit that my second obsession is silk flowers.

Not nearly as severe as the ribbon addiction, but bad enough.

Now you might not be able to get all of your silk flower needs at the Dollar Tree, but these flowers I found are perfect for hair clips and scrapbooking.

When you only spend $1 on a bunch of flowers you tend not to feel as bad when you don't quite get to the projects you have planned for them.

I am notorious for this, just ask my mom.

I also picked up a shower curtain liner. I thought this was a totally FIND because who likes buying things like that??

I tell ya,

The $$Tree has everything.

$$$ Tree Tuesday (On Wednesday)

Now my plan was definitely to hit the $$$ Tree on Tuesday, but...

I postponed my trip this week because the Grand Opening of the store right next to my house was today.

There are only a few more stores that I need by my house and I won't have to travel more than a couple miles for virtually anything.

As usual our trip to the Dollar Tree today...

Did not disappoint!!!

Of course there is nothing nicer than a completely organized, fully-stocked store. I really could have purchased a whole lot more, but if I am going to show you the greatness of the Dollar Tree week to week...

I thought I better hold off on some things.

Anyway...

Today was mostly a mommy day, but I did pick up a couple things for the kids. One thing...

These elastics for Taylor's hair. 500 little itty bitty rubber bands, in a variety of colors. These little things are perfect for little girls' hair.

I totally hit the jackpot with my next little find.

6 rolls of 5/8" grosgrain, solid ribbon. 5 yds on each!!! I bought the colors that I thought I would use most, but there were actually quite a few more to choose from.

Now these are not something that everyone needs, but...

If you do any sort of shipping like I do, this is a great find. Of course I can't really take credit for the find. My wonderful mom is the one that originally told me I could find these at the Dollar Tree. An 8 pack of brown envelopes.

Now I had mentioned last week that Thomas got to pick out a puzzle, but I did not show a picture.

He got to pick out another one today. He absolutely loves these little puzzles and that is A-OK with me!!

Now the next couple things are not from the Dollar Tree, but I couldn't let them go unseen.

I found these at the $1 Spot in Target. Another wonderful little area that cannot be passed by on each of my weekly trips to Target.

If you haven't noticed I have a sick obsession with ribbon!!!

$$ Tree Tuesday...

I know I have said it before, but...

I {HEART} the DOLLAR TREE!!!

What is it about a place where EVERYTHING is just $1???

It is just great!!

Anyway, I thought I would share my purchases from our trip today.

Most of my trips I avoid this stuff...

But today was a weak moment for me. I LOVE Fiddle Faddle!!! For those of you that have absolutely no clue what it is... it's caramel corn.

Delicious, not good for you, CARAMEL CORN!!!

Our trip today was really just for the kids though.

The Dollar Tree is the perfect place to take the kids when you have told them they can pick something out the next you go shopping.

No worries about them picking out some crazy, expensive toy...EVERYTHING is $1!!!

And the thing is...

This is great for kids. They don't care how much things cost, they just think it is cool to pick out something all on their own.

Taylor picked out the book. Oh how we love books in this household. A perfect little board book about counting. Thomas actually picked out a puzzle (not pictured), but another great find.

He has been really into putting puzzles together and the great thing about a puzzle from the $1 store...

Mom does not freak out if a piece goes missing.

More importantly though..

Puzzles really help Thomas out with his patience. He has known!!! And... puzzles take patience.

I splurged and let them also pick out two coloring/activity books and a set of crayons. Nice fat crayons, which are great for little kids.

And...

For mommy...

A ruler, post-it notes and a 10-pack of mechanical pencils.

3 things that are must-haves in the office/craft room, but I never think about until I need them and don't have them.

Now I do!!!
