Two Months (Part 2)

Besides our fun trip to Las Vegas.  We celebrated Taylor's 8th birthday, had a very nice visit with my in-laws, celebrated Easter, suffered through a HUGE snow storm, started spring sports and have done a few projects around the house!!

Having my hubby home posed a very nice opportunity...PROJECTS!!

We have a closet in our loft that is basically EXTRA.  It had no shelves of any kind and well that wasn't working for me.

So...

A quick trip to Lowe's, a sheet of MDF and an afternoon worth of work and VOILA!!

I now have a place to wrap presents, store extra party stuff and a bit of the craft items that I don't have a place for in my actual craft room!!  I absolutely love how it turned out.  I don't love the original closet doors, so we are exploring other options.  Top of the list...a sliding barn door!!

It's not a great picture, but he used the left over MDF from the closet to put a few shelves in my laundry room!!  Shopping in bulk just got a whole lot better!!

Sometimes the simplest changes make the biggest difference!!  Case and point...our front door!!  It took two coats of paint...that's it...and I LOVE IT!!

When my mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday this year I told her 100% a Hobby Lobby gift card.  Why??  Because I had my eye on that GIANT M!!  It really is GIANT, but it was the perfect size for the bare wall in the basement!!  My hubby handmade those 4 corner shelves and redid that old bar mirror to finish that side!!  One more wall and some lamps and the basement will be officially finished!!

My new headboard was the result of our creative collaboration!!  Can you tell that it's made from flooring?  Like most things in our house though...it weighs like 1000 lbs.  Man I hope I never have to move...I'm not sure anyone could lift and NOT destroy some of the things in our house!

Spring in Colorado never disappoints, but this year it's been nuts!  Middle of March and this is what it looked like for two days.

See...doesn't my door color pop?  Haha!!

Two days of solid snow and then poof...the sun came out and it was over!!  20+ inches of wet, heavy snow!!

These two...they love the snow for about 10-20 minutes and then they're usually over it!!

We celebrated Taylor's 8th birthday with presents, a yummy dinner at Beau Jo's and ice cream cake!!  This picture...Thomas is clearly still in the awkward smiling stage and can you tell who's only smiling to get a piece of that cake??  Tatum...always worried about the food in the room!!

I know I say this every time we celebrate a birthday, but I can't believe I have a 10, 8 & 4 year old!!!

Stay tuned for the final installment of TWO MONTHS!!

My Little Entrepreneur

If you don't mind the hard work...shoveling snow might just be the business for you.  Thomas and his friend Aidan took a stab at it on Tuesday when more than a foot of snow fell at our house.  Thomas started with the walkway to our door and well...

I'll let the pictures tell the story.

The wind was blowing so hard that every time he dumped the snow it flew back on him.

Needless to say they gave up at my house and moved across the street.  They shoveled for about 15 minutes and then took a much needed hot chocolate/movie break.

And after their break they finished Aidan's driveway...well kind of!  Can you believe they got paid $30 bucks for that?  They eventually did come help shovel my driveway, but I am WAY pickier...they only got $5 each from me.  They also shoveled a nearby driveway and earned $20.  Not too bad for their first time.

Snow Fun

We were looking forward to a white Christmas, but instead of waking up to one we went to bed with one.  Either way the kids were super excited to use their new sleds right away.

I'm going to start off by giving myself a huge pat on the back.  Why?  Well because...have you ever noticed that I have a gift for convincing my kids to smile together as if they actually LIKE each other?  I mean seriously...this don't they look like best friends?  LOL...Nope they are definitely NOT!!!

Their first snow angels of the season!!

Don't they look like they are having fun?  Don't they look like they could be out there all day long?

WELL

It lasted about 15 minutes and then...Tatum fell face first into the snow and lost it!  Total meltdown!!  So back to the house we went!!  Crying the whole way...snot running down her nose...snow down the back of her neck...gloves falling off!

It took longer to get dressed and undressed than the actual total time she was out in the snow!  Pretty sure I'm not renting a cabin in the mountains anytime soon!

Oh and as if that wasn't bad enough...Taylor removed her gloves while sledding...couldn't get them back on...and proceeded to throw a huge fit at the bottom of the hill.  I mean she literally stood at the bottom of the hill and screamed until Tom drug her back to the house!

Yup...those sleds were a great gift from good ol' Santa Claus.  It's too bad too...it has done nothing but snow the entire break!  I guess my babies are just sun babies!

Out to Lunch

This is my excuse for not blogging for a few days.  I get busy doing loads of other stuff and don't sit down to blog.  The truth is...when I'm not blogging it usually means I'm being SUPER productive...which is a good thing.  Right?!  Of course ideally I would be super productive AND blog, but we can't all be The Pioneer Woman.

Anyway...

As I was saying...I have been super productive lately.  I have been keeping up on laundry and although my relationship with laundry has not changed (I still hate it)...I have been pushing through and getting it done.  I established a little morning routine and almost everyday it involves vacuuming, running the dish washer, picking up the kids' rooms and smiling about how nice it is to have a clean house.  I can't speak for anyone else, but with every kid and the stuff they possess I have become a little more OCD.

I'm looking forward to a fun, impromptu visit from my sister this coming weekend...THAT thanks to our AWESOME parents...will include going to the AFC Championship between the Broncos and the Patriots.  It isn't exactly my dream game to attend, but my sister is over the moon.  I'll be routing with her, but only because she has promised to throw some love to the Seahawks later that day for the NFC game.  Please send good vibes our way...we will be sitting in a sea of ORANGE!!

That is all for now, but I will leave you with a few pics I meant to post last week and didn't.

And a little video...

Finally!!!

Although it snowed last Wednesday the kids haven't gotten to actually play in it because the temperatures have been disgustingly cold.  Finally though on Sunday the temperature rose just above unbearable so the kids got to play.  My dad and my hubby even joined them in the fun.  I bundled up to take some much needed pics.

They made snow angels, build a rather sad snowman and tried to throw snowballs at each other.  Even Riley got in on the fun!!

The snow is starting to melt and the temperatures are rising, however I am pretty sure we will have plenty more opportunity to play in the snow as winter hasn't even officially begun yet!
