My Little Soccer Princess

I'm not going to lie...my interest in soccer is comparable to my interest in dinosaurs...ZERO.  However, when it comes to my kids all bets are off.  I LOVE watching my kids do just about anything and if that includes soccer, then that's OK with me.

Taylor was super excited to get to play soccer again this spring, unfortunately Mother Nature has not been kind and there have been very few games.  This weekend will end the season, but I suspect she will be back at it in the fall.

Isn't she the cutest?!  So serious!!

A Full Month!

As if moving into a new house isn't enough to fill a month on the calender, we are hosting guests this month as well.

Our first round of guests came last Thursday and spent the weekend with us.  In Kindergarten Thomas became fast friends with a boy named Jett.  All I heard when he started Kindergarten was Jett this and Jett that!!  After a fun field trip I not only got to meet the amazing Jett, but I had the pleasure of meeting his mom as well.  Chanon and I became fast friends as well and both friendships have lasted even from 800 miles away.

The Scott's took a long road trip last summer and loved it so much they decided to do it again this summer and lucky for us they were planning to make CO the first stop on their trip.  It worked out perfectly that we were just moved into our new house and I was happy to host for the weekend.   They have a daughter that is Taylor's age as well, Riley, and so it couldn't have been more perfect.  They kids played all weekend and the adults got to catch up.  AND because road trips require tourist site seeing...we went to the Denver Zoo and a Rockies Game as well.

It was a great weekend!!  We have a few days to rest and then next up...Nana and Papa Moore!!

Another Year in the Books!!

Thomas and Taylor may be pains in my neck a good portion of the time, but I am happy to say they save all that behavior for their dear old mom and are perfect angels at school.

They both finished a wonderful year of school the week we were moving.  They are sad to leave all of their friends at Northridge, but I keep reminding them that they will make tons of new friends at their new school.  I still can't believe I have a 1st grader and a 3rd grader.  And not that I am counting, but 10 weeks from today I they will BOTH be in school ALL day!!

Taylor with her Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Vermillion!!

Headed to Taylor's Kindergarten continuation ceremony!!

Man do I love these three munchkins!!

Taylor and daddy!!  Must have been the fact the night was about her because she was sure in the cooperating mood when it came to smiling for pics!!

Only on special occasions do I step to the other side of the lens!!

Taylor and her good friend Kira!!

All four of these Kinders lived on the same street...carpooling buddies and good friends!!

And I couldn't leave out my Thomas and his teacher Mrs. Spillan!!  As usual he loved her and I'm pretty sure she liked him too.

Where Do I Start??

Well...I finally have my internet hooked up.  I would say I have felt cutoff from the world, but between moving and dealing with the ENTIRE family getting sick, honestly I barely noticed.   I do however, have so much to catch you up on.  We are officially living in the new house and I would say we are 85% unpacked and put back together.  I'd be closer to 100% if a nasty flu bug hadn't tore through our house last weekend.  Spending two days disinfecting every things in the house was not part of the original plan.  But such is life, so we adjusted!!

Before I start revealing what the house looks like all put together I will first show you the results of my husbands amazing work.

Here is the new flooring in our dining and family room!!  A vast improvement from those gross carpets we started with!!  They look even better in person!

Almost the second after we signed papers on the house I knew what I wanted...A NEW DINING TABLE!!  A table that would fit my 5 AND any guests we have.  No more eating on the couch or standing in the kitchen!!  My mom found these amazing plans for a farmhouse table over at Ana-White.

This table is HUGE people!!  And it weighs a small ton!!  BUT...it is perfect!!

I smile every time I look at it!!!

Stay tuned for what it looks like inside the house!!!

New Do

I didn't believe her when she said she wanted to cut her hair.  I basically kept brushing her off when it came up.

AND THEN...

Aunt KiKi got her hair cut and she said..."I want to look like Aunt KiKi!"

She kept bugging!!

And so I did what any good mom would do...

I let her!!

Love her...LOVE IT!!

Moving Right Along

The house is coming right along.  T minus 5 days until all projects need to be finished.  We are having the carpets cleaned next Thursday, so the pressure is on finish up all messy projects.  I am so grateful that we have not had to live in the mess.

Here are the latest pics...

The first project I tackled was the laundry room.  I will apologize ahead of time for the lack of before pics.  I had every intention of taking before pics for each room, but I would get started and then remember.  The before of the laundry room was a very dark blue.  I chose to lighten it up with a grey!!

These beauties arrived on Tuesday and I am pretty excited (well as close as I will ever get to excitement) to do some laundry with them!!  Originally we were going to install a Closetmade system above them, but it turns out I am too short and the washer and dryer are too deep/tall.  We will be rethinking that later.

Next I tackled Taylor's room, but sadly I took ZERO pics of her room.  You'll just get to see the after pics once it is all decorated.

Third on the list was the main floor.  The main wall was a very dark brown and the TV niche area was a dark red.  I DID NOT LIKE THEM!!  I decided to go completely out of my comfort zone and picked Apricot.  I love it, my hubby loves it and we think it looks great with the new floors.

I have not taken an official after pic of the floors because there have been dusty and dirty every day since they were installed.  You can kind of see them here though.

Haven't quite gotten to that light fixture yet.

I dreaded Thomas' room the most.  And if I had remembered to take a before pic you would know why.  If you look closely around the light on the ceiling you will see dark blue paint...now imagine the ENTIRE room that color.

I used the same grey as the laundry room and it is 100% better.  I have another little project in the works for his room, but I will not reveal until it is completely finished.

My mom comes into town this morning and we have a list of things we need to get done!!  Will show you those next week!!

Approaching 1 Year!!

I was sitting here looking up at my calender and smiling at how busy our month is and then remembering how busy our May calender was last year as well.  In 23 days we will have officially lived in CO for 1 year.  1 YEAR!!!  WOW!  Last year at this time I couldn't have even begun to imagine what our lives would be like a year later and I'm pretty sure even if I had speculated I would have been COMPLETELY wrong.

It's no surprise that Thomas has made 100's of friends...probably not an exaggeration...he's such a good, friendly kid!  Don't get me wrong Taylor has made friends too, but she's slightly more selective in the friend category.  That would be my polite way of saying she's bossy, independent and doesn't quite have the personality of her big brother.  Hey...no lies here...always real!  Even our Miss Tatum has friends!!  If ever there was a perfect street to live on...WE LIVE ON IT!!  Well for another 20 days anyway.  Because of this street though...even my hubby and I have made lifelong friends!!  CO has turned out to be a pretty great place to live.

The next few weeks will be pretty busy, but I seem to embrace BUSY these days.  My mom comes into town on Friday.  Why would she come to town when we are in the middle of moving???  Because she's the best mom ever...duh!!  AND she will be lending her talents to updating all of Taylor's bedroom furniture and helping me make crucial decisions like...WHAT CURTAINS TO BUY!!  Once we are moved in The Scott's will be making CO their first stop on their summer road trip.  Thomas and Jett...finally reunited and he is so excited!!!!!!  One week later my in-laws will be here.  By the time all of our visits are over it will almost be July!!

Life is always teaching me things and although it took a little time, I have learned to embrace the journey and know that as long as my family is healthy and happy we'll be just fine.

Update and a few pics

I am happy to say that we are plugging right along on the new house.  We started with a long list of things that we needed to do PRIOR to moving in and I think we are right on track.  Since we have been home from vacation we have spend some amount of time over there everyday except Saturday...it was too nice outside and the Kentucky Derby was on...good enough excuses for me to take a break.

The new floors are 95% done.  My hubby has just a couple pieces of transition to finish and then I can show the big reveal.

I started with 6 different paint projects and have completed 2 and eliminated 1.  I repainted the laundry room from a dark navy blue to grey and I love it!  For whatever reason the woman before me had a thing for DARK colors.  Although I have nothing against NAVY...I prefer my house a little less dark!  Shame on me for forgetting to take before pics of Taylor's room because you would have loved to see the stripes and trees that were painted on her walls.  I considered leaving it for about a minute and then decided a simple Champagne Pink would be much prettier.  AND IT IS!!!!

The master bedroom is painted a pretty shade of green.  I had originally thought I would paint it because it did not match our bedding, but then I did some math.  I figured I could probably find new bedding for cheaper than I could repaint the entire bedroom.  AND I DID!!!!!  I eliminated a few days worth of work AND I got new bedding!!  Double bonus!!

I am currently working on finishing up the main floor wall and TV nook area.  They WERE dark brown and red...again...not my style.  I chose to go completely out of my comfort zone and without revealing...let's just say I think I accomplished that!

I did remember to take before pics of Tatum's room.

Can you tell this lady liked color?

Taylor helped me remove the wallpaper border already and my hubby is currently working on removing those murals.  When we bought the house those murals were encased in trim and had curtains hanging above them.  In order to have a nice smooth surface they had added a layer of smooth texture to paint the mural on.  My hubby now has to gently sand off the mural to reveal the original texture.

You can see a little piece of where he started his sanding on this pic on the left side below my arrow.  As soon as he is done I will start on this room.

More pics to come!!!
